Welcome to the Winnipeg School Division Blog. This is a digital space to and for students, teachers, and classrooms to share and highlight the powerful learning that is happening in our Division. Blogging can be used for a variety of purposes in an educational setting. Blogs can be set up as student blogs, school blogs, classroom blogs, or program blogs just to name a few.
Having students utilize blogs to share and reflect on their learning provides them with real-world opportunities to demonstrate and practice digital citizenship, open reflection, and develop literacy with different mediums. Blogs can promote student voice, create an open archive for learning, and develop a positive digital footprint. (The Principal of Change, 2013). Student blogs function as digital portfolios which archive student learning thus providing students and teachers a way to view and reflect on student growth over time.
In order to manage student blogs, the teacher must first create a classroom blog.
Please note…. When creating student blogs and usernames make sure to use their WSD username. This is important in order to avoid duplicate blogs and users on our network.
