Yesterday and today there were Minute to Win It challenges taking place in the gymnasium. Some of the challenges were the Cookie Challenge and Suck it Up. Grade 4s participated on Thursday and Grade 5 and 6 students played the games on Friday. Rooms 22 and 12 danced to the song Can’t Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake as entertainment for our assembly. Our Patrols and Conflict Managers went to Wheelies as a reward for their hard work and leadership at school. Some of the Grade 4s helped Ms. Tattersall and other non- patrols worked with Ms. Ruud while the Patrols and CMs were away.
We used the Ipads and played some games today. Mr. P from STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) came to teach us about coding. Mrs. Last divided us into pairs to do the coding work. We used an App called Hopscotch and another one called Playground. In coding we made a feather that had three colours and went side to side. Then Mr. P showed us a challenge to make the same code as he did. These Apps are free but only work on Apple devices.
In Mathematics the Grade 4s are still working on fractions and some are going to work on angles after Spring Break. In Grade 5 Mathematics some students are working on multiplication of decimal numbers. The others are working on multiplication of whole numbers. We also started fractions this week. Grade 6 students are working on percent.
We started researching Canadians Who Have Made a Difference this week and will continue after the break. We are all looking forward to a week off school!
