This Week at STEM: Personalized Learning Block 3 2018/2019

The past 8 weeks just flew right by! We had our last STEM Learning Lab classes this week! This week was all about personalized learning.  To know more about this, keep reading.

Our successful learner trait for the week is:

We started the day off with an instant challenge.  After watching the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, our instant challenge was to create a parachute for Jack.  We decided it was better for Jack to be in the air for a longer period of time, as compared to a shorter period of time.  Using the materials available in our class, we created parachutes and timed how long it would take for Jack to land safely.  Here are some of our designs:

Then we focused on our personal learning.  Either in groups or individually, students chose something to learn more about; either something we’ve done already or something we haven’t focused on.  Some things students chose to focus on are:

  • Coding on a variety of different websites
  • Building a 3D replica of their bedroom from VR week
  • Learning to draw anime characters
  • Making a stop motion film on Smoovie
  • Exploring VR content
  • Create Rube Goldberg
  • Creating 3-D animations

Please check out our SeeSaw accounts to see our work!

It was a great last week! We learned so much in these last 8 weeks!
